Anaheim Outlook
The Anaheim Ducks just completed their two game series with the San Jose Sharks, which both required shootouts to determine a winner.
In the first game, the Ducks scored three straight in the second period, but then gave up three straight in the third period. The Ducks scored one more time to force overtime. No one scored in the extra session and the game went to a shootout. The Ducks did not score and the Sharks got the victory.
In the second game, the Sharks got a goal right at the beginning of the game, but never scored again. The Ducks got one goal in regulation and again the teams with to overtime. In the extra session, the Ducks played of their best 3-on-3 hockey in a while. They didn’t score, but could have multiple times. In the shootout, Troy Terry and Max Comtois scored to give Anaheim the victory.
Poor starts, inconsistent play, and scoring have been issues for the Ducks this season. The Ducks average 1.85 goals a game, which is the worst in the league. They give up 2.54 against per game, which is 8th lowest in the NHL. The power play is only 6.7% efficient, which ranks last in the NHL. The penalty kill is ranked 5th in the league at 86.1%. The Ducks are 0-1-1 against the Golden Knights this season.
Max Comtois leads the team in scoring with five goals.
Team News:
Ryan Getzlaf was out the last two games with a lower body injury and is listed as day-to-day.
Max Jones has missed the last few games due to an undisclosed injury and was assigned to the taxi squad.
Josh Manson(oblique muscle) and Sonny Milano(upper-body) are both on the IR.
Kodie Curran was added to the taxi squad and Hunter Drew was reassigned to the Gulls.
John Gibson suffered a facial laceration as a result of a collision in practice yesterday per Alyson Lozoff. As a result Ryan Miller will start. The Ducks also promoted Anthony Stolarz to the roster and Lukas Dostal was promoted to the taxi squad.

Vegas Outlook
Vegas continues to play well with a 7-1-1 record. There only regulation loss came on January 22nd against Arizona 5-2. There other loss came a few nights later in a 5-4 shootout lose to St. Louis. Vegas is currently first in the West Division.
The Golden Knights average 3.56 per game, which is 5th best in the league. They give up 2.33 goals against per game, which is 4th best in the NHL. Their power play is ranked 21st at 15.6% efficient. The penalty is 83.9% efficient, which is 8th in the NHL.
Max Pacioretty leds the team in scoring with six goals.
