Analysis:
The Ducks started the homestand with their worst loss of the season against Utah and then finished it with their best win against Chicago. Anaheim scored once in the first period and held a one goal heading into the second period. The Ducks then busted things wide open in the middle frame with four goals to make it 5-0. They added two more in the third en route to a 7-1 smackdown of Chicago.
Two of the Anaheim goals came on the power play ending a 15 man advantage drought. The Ducks went 2-for-5 on the power play and the Blackhawks went 1-for-2.
The Ducks put up 72 shot attempts to just 26 for the Blackhawks at even strength. Anaheim posted a whooping CF% of 73.47% and FF% of 75%.
Everyone played well in this one with multiple players recording multiple points. Ryan Strome, Cutter Gauthier, and Chris Kreider each had two assists. Leo Carlsson scored twice. Sennecke scored a goal and had one assist.
This was a great win for many reasons, but especially after losing their last meeting against Chicago when Anaheim had a 3-0 lead in the first period. The teams won’t play each other any more this season.
Team Notes/Stats:
The Ducks put up 53 shots on goal nearly tying their record which was 56 against Ottawa on October 13th, 2013.
Anaheim put 27 shots on goal in the second period alone, which is a team record.
This was the fifth time Anaheim scored 7 goals in a single season, which is also a team record.
What’s Next?
The Ducks travel to Pittsburgh to face the Penguins at 4PM on Tuesday.
