Anaheim Outlook

The Ducks played last night in a losing effort to the Rangers. Anaheim scored first, but then it was all Rangers, who eventually won 4-1. Anaheim did get back Trevor Zegras and Nicolas Deslauriers off the COVID protocol. Ryan Getzlaf is expected to play tonight.

Anaheim continues to thrive on special teams. The Ducks are 27.0% efficient on the power play, which ranks 4th in the league. Their penalty kill is 86.3% efficient, which is tied for 3rd in the NHL.

Troy Terry leads the team in scoring with 21 goals.

Derek Grant was placed in the protocol on January 3rd and could be available tonight.

Sam Carrick, John Gibson, Vinni Lettieri, and Hampus Lindholm were placed in the protocol on January 6th.

Josh Mahura remains on the IR with an upper-body injury. He is listed as week-to-week.

Adam Henrique has an lower-body injury and remains on the IR. He has been skating on his own, but the timeline for his return is unknown.

Max Jones had surgery to repair a pectoralis major tendon tear and will be out for 4-6 months.

Detroit Outlook

The Red Wings were shut out last night 4-0 at the hands of the Los Angeles Kings. Detroit is in the middle of their California road trip. After they play the Ducks tonight, they will then face San Jose on Tuesday. The Red Wings have gone 3-7-0 in their last 10 games and are in 5th place in the Atlantic Division.

Detroit averages 2.71 goals per game, which is tied for 23rd in the league. They give up 3.37 goals against on average. On the power play they are 13.7% efficient, which ranks 31st in the league. They are 21st in the league on the penalty kill at 78.4% efficiency.

Dylan Larkin leads the team in scoring with 16 goals.
