The Anaheim Ducks played their annual Black Friday game hosting the Ottawa Senators. Adam Henrique returned the lineup after he injured his hand. Anthony Stolarz got the start against Anton Forsberg.

Recap

Sam Carrick and Austin Watson dropped the gloves just a little more than two minutes into the game.

The Ducks had a couple of early chances, but did not score. Later in the period Anaheim Isac Lundestrom would give the Ducks a 1-0 lead. Rickard Rakell won a puck battle behind the net and backhanded the puck to Lundestom who was in the slot and slammed it home.

In the second period it was Josh Manson and Brady Tkachuk, who would square off.

Anaheim would go back to work and score the only two goals in the middle frame. Derek Grant would get a lucky bounce and score his first of the season. He took a shot, which Forsberg blocked, but then it bounced off Tyler Ennis and into the back of the net.

The Ducks went on a power in the final minutes of the second period and Troy Terry would score to make it 3-0. He made a quick move from forehand to backhand and then scored going five-hole.

Anaheim would make it a 4-0 game in the third period, when Trevor Zegras found Rickard Rakell in front of the net. Rakell redirected the pass from Zegras past Forsberg.

Late in the game the Senators scored, but Stolarz was ran into and knocked into the back of the net. The refs deemed goalie interference on the play, so no goal. The Ducks went on to win 4-0.

Analysis

This was a complete game by the Anaheim Ducks and Stolarz. The Ducks were able to get on the board early and never looked back afterward. Four different players scored, including Grant who finally got the monkey off his back. Hopefully his offensive game can pick it up.

The Ducks special teams were outstanding again. They converted one of three power play attempts and held back Ottawa, who had the man advantage four times in this game.

Anaheim has picked up it’s fight game as of late. Carrick had a good bout early in this game and Manson had a short lived one in the second period. The Ducks played well in all aspects of this game and turned in a solid performance.

Team Stats/News:

Stolarz earned his first shutout of the season. He has four total in his career.

Zegras moved into second place in scoring among all rookies with 14 points(6 G + 8 A). Lucas Raymond leads all rookies with 20 points(8 G + 12 A).

The Ducks are 3-0-0 this season when either Eddie or Mike are in attendance.
