Podcast: Good Ducks, Bad Ducks
By Michael Walters
The Anaheim Ducks have been a team of extremes early on in this shortened season.
Defensively, Anaheim has been one of the best teams in the league. The Ducks give up on average 2.13 goals against a game, which is 4h best in the league. They been excellent on the penalty kill with an 88.9% efficiency, which is 5th best in the league. A large reason for the team’s defensive success has rested on the shoulders of John Gibson.
Offensively, the Ducks have been horrendous. Anaheim averages 1.75 goals per game, which is the worst in the league. The power play didn’t score a goal in the first seven games of the season. The Ducks finally got a power play goal in their last game against Arizona. The power play is 5.6% efficient, which is also last in the league.
On this show, we discuss these extremes and how the Ducks can change their play.
