Injuries and Recalls
By Richard Gonzalez
The Colorado Avalanche have officially placed forwards Tyson Jost and JT Compher on IR and have recalled forwards A.J. Greer and Gabriel Bourque from the San Antonio Rampage.
Compher broke his right thumb in the controversial 4-3closs to the St. Louis Blues. Compher got his fourth point (1 goal and 3 assists) of the season after he assisted on Alexander Kerfoot‘s goal in the first period. In the second period, Compher blocked a shot from defenseman Alex Pietrangelo which resulted in his injury.
Jost returned to play against the Blues after missing 2 games with a bone bruise below the knee. The injury occurred after he was cross-checked by Bruins’ defenseman Adam McQuaid. Jost, who has 2 points (1 goal and 1 assists), suffered a lower-body injury and left in the game against the Blues.
Mike Chambers of the Denver Post reports Compher is out approximately three weeks and Jost will miss approximately 2-3 weeks.
Patrik Nemeth, who missed one game due to a shoulder injury, was also hurt in the game against the Blues. Nemeth has 3 assists this season and is listed day-to-day. He is expected to play in the Avalanche’s next game on Tuesday against the Dallas Stars.
Greer was first recalled by the Avalanche on November 13, 2016. He played in 5 games with the big club and recorded his first NHL point which was an assist. Greer has played in two games with the Rampage this season and has 2 assists.
Bourque signed a professional try-out contract with the Avalanche last September and ultimately was offered a contract on October 10, 2016. Bourque played in 6 games with the Avalanche last season but did not record a point. Bourque has played in five games with the Rampage this season and has a goal and an assist.
