Anaheim Outlook

The Ducks called up Trevor Zegras and then took on the Coyotes in his NHL debut. Anaheim came out flying building up a 3-0 lead even scoring on the power play. In the second period, however, the Coyotes stormed back to tie the game. Arizona got another goal in the third period and Anaheim couldn’t find a game-tying score.

Zegras looked solid in his first game, but his ice time went down after the first period. Many ask question what was Dallas Eakins doing with Zegras’ ice time. For more discussion on that visit: Zegras Era Begins?

Poor starts, inconsistent play, and scoring have been issues for the Ducks this season. The Ducks average 1.89 goals a game, which ranks 30th in the league. They give up 2.79 against per game, which is 17th best in the NHL. The power play is only 8.9% efficient, which ranks 30th in the NHL. The penalty kill is ranked 7th in the league at 84.6%.

Max Comtois leads the team in scoring with seven goals.

Team News:

Adam Henrique was placed on waivers on Saturday and then cleared them on Sunday. He has been reassigned to the Taxi Squad. For more on his situation visit: Henrique Cleared Waivers, Now What?

Arizona Outlook

The Coyotes got down on Monday by three goals to the Ducks, but didn’t give up. They scored three straight goals in the second period to tie the game and then got the go ahead score in the third period. Arizona started to push back at the end of the first period after a pair of fights. Early in the second it looked like Anaheim might cruise to a victory, but to Arizona’s credit they didn’t get down and were able to comeback and win.

The Coyotes average 2.61 per game, which ranks 22nd in the league. They give up 2.78 goals against per game, which is 16th in the NHL. Their power play is ranked 16th at 20.9% efficiency. The penalty is 84.1% efficient, which is 8th in the NHL.

Christian Dvorak lead the team in scoring with nine goals.
