VIDEO: Ducks Edge Blue Jackets 2-1
By Richard Gonzalez
The Anaheim Ducks played their second of back-to-backs tonight against the Columbus Blue Jackets. When the puck dropped, Ryan Getzlaf became the all-time leader of games played in the Ducks franchise with (989), passing former Ducks player, Corey Perry. Michael Del Zotto drew back into the line-up, Max Comtois will make his season debut since being recalled from the San Diego Gulls and Ryan Miller made his first start of the season. Brendan Guhle was out with a lower-body injury and is listed as day-to-day.

The Ducks bounced back and won this game 2-1, but penalties and sloppy play was an issue this game. The Blue Jackets maintained a shooting lead and at times, they were out-playing the Ducks. The Ducks got into some penalty problems as Ritchie got called for holding (first period), Del Zotto got a tripping call (second period) and Getzlaf got a delay of game call (second period).
The Ducks would strike first and capitalize on a bad bounce off the linesmen and sent them on a two-on-one. Rickard Rakell lead the rush and took a shot. Jakob Silfverberg would be at the front of the net to put in the rebound for a shorthanded goal. Approximately, a couple minutes later, Ondrej Kase delivered a drop pass to Cam Fowler who ended up scoring and giving the Ducks a 2-0 lead in the second. Pierre-Luc Dubois scored once to get Columbus on the board, but that’s the only offense they could manage in this contest.
Analysis:
The Ducks were coming off a loss the previous night (10/10). However, I do not think this was one of their better games. There was a lot of lazy and sloppy play. Granted, they played their second of back-to-backs, but they were facing a very inexperienced team. The Blue Jackets have lost a lot of elite player talent and have an unproven starting goalie. Joonas Korpisalo is good but has yet to have a starting role. Regardless, the Ducks escaped this game with a win and two points.
