Ducks Sign Martinsen
By Michael Walters
Today the Anaheim Ducks signed left-wing Andreas Martinsen. The deal is for one year and worth $750,000 according to the Athletic’s Eric Stephens.
Martinsen has played with the Colorado Avalanche, Montreal Canadiens, and Chicago Blackhawks over the past four NHL seasons. He has played in 152 NHL games recording 23 total points(9 G + 14 A). He has also played in 112 AHL games recording 41 total points(16 G + 25 A).
Martinsen is a very good skater for his size as he stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 229 pounds. Martinsen likes to get physical in the offensive zone, crash the net and screen the goalie. As part of his physical game, he likes to drop the gloves every once in a while. He is also a good passer and has some offensive upside. He can play wing or center.
He will likely start next season in San Diego as General Manager Bob Murray continues to acquire players to replenish the Gulls roster.
