VIDEO: Ducks Down Devils 3-2

The Anaheim Ducks continued their road trip in New Jersey. John Gibson was in net against MacKenzie Blackwood.
First Period
The Devils would get on the board first as Marcus Johansson would get the puck in front of the net and backhand it past Gibson. The Ducks would tie it up a few minutes later as Adam Henrique would throw the puck towards the net and Blackwood left a rebound in front. Daniel Sprong got to the loose puck first and then beat Blackwood glove side. New Jersey challenged the play as being offside, but the goal stood. The Ducks would then get a power play and Troy Terry would score his first NHL goal beating Blackwood between the arm and the body. Anaheim had a 2-1 lead after the opening period.
Second Period
The Devils made a push in the second period. It started early with Damon Severson getting an open chance in front of Gibson, but he was denied. New Jersey had a couple good scoring chancing, but Gibson stood tall in the period. The Ducks were outshot 14-3 in the period but still held a 2-1 lead. Josh Manson and Nathan Bastian did get into it this period and dropped the gloves.
Third Period
The Devils came out strong in the final frame, but they couldn’t get the tying goal. Derek Grant then gave Anaheim a 3-1 lead as he beat Blackwood over the shoulder. The puck hit the crossbar and went into the net. The Devils did get a power play late in the period, but couldn’t convert. New Jersey pulled their goalie and Jesper Bratt scored to get the Devils within one goal. Anaheim would hold on and win 3-2.
Analysis
The Ducks got down early in the first period but were able to answer with two quick goals. Anaheim survived the second period as they had to kill off a few penalties and were outshot 14-3. The Ducks were outshot overall 31-14, but manage to score at the right moments in this game. Anaheim was able to shut down the New Jersey powerplay and Gibson played outstanding especially in the second period.

Troy Terry scored his first NHL goal.
