Holzer Signs Two Year Deal
By Michael Walters
According to TVA Sports, Korbinian Holzer signed a two-year extension for $1.8 million. The deal is worth $900,000 in 2017-18 and 2018-19 respectively.
Holzer played in 32 games for Anaheim last season, recording two goals and five assists. He played in five playoff games this postseason and didn’t record a point. He has played the 7th or 8th defensemen role for the past two seasons for Anaheim.
The Ducks current defensive core consists of Kevin Bieksa, Cam Fowler, Hampus Lindholm, Josh Manson, Brandon Montour, and Sami Vatanen. Holzer will likely still play the 7th defensemen role. There have been reports that the Ducks may also sign Fowler to a contract extension. Prior to the expansion draft, there were reports that Vatanen could be traded, but that hasn’t happened. The Ducks lost Clayton Stoner and Shea Theodore in the expansion draft so Bob Murray may consider to keep Vatanen after all.
